11 - 2 tablespoons mild pepperoncini rings, drained
12 - 2 tablespoons thinly sliced red onion

# How to Make It:

01 - In a bowl, combine shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
02 - Lay out the bread slices and spread one side of each with softened butter.
03 - Place two slices buttered side down on a work surface. Top each with 2 slices provolone, 3 slices salami, and 3 slices pepperoni.
04 - Distribute pepperoncini rings and red onion slices over the meats and cheese if desired.
05 - Spread the lettuce mixture evenly over the meats and cheese.
06 - Top each sandwich with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.

08 - Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve hot.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The hot cold cuts get crispy around the edges while the cheese oozes into every cranny
  • That tangy lettuce topping cuts through all the rich meat and cheese so nothing feels heavy
02 -
  • Dont skip buttering every square inch of the bread or youll get patchy golden spots instead of that gorgeous even crisp
  • The lettuce mixture can get watery if you make it too far ahead, so mix it right before you start cooking
03 -
  • Low and slow wins the race here, so don't crank up the heat trying to speed things along
  • If your cheese isn't melting but the bread is getting dark, tent the pan with foil for a minute
